Om biblioteket på engelska

Welcome to the library!

The Upplands Väsby library is a public library open to everyone. It is located in the “Messingen” building next to Upplands Väsby station. When the main library section is closed, you can still return books in the ground-floor library section, which is open while the “Messingen” building is open.

Library card

You need to have a library card to borrow books. Each person has an individual library card. A library card is free and borrowing from the library is free. Children under the age of 16 must have the approval of a parent or guardian.

Library website

On the library website you can search our catalogue, take care of reservations or renewals, and learn about current events and activities in the library.

If a book has been lent out, you can reserve it. You will receive a message when it is ready to pick up at the library

Interlibrary loan

If you are interested in a book that the Upplands Väsby library does not have, it may be possible to request an interlibrary loan or make a purchase suggestion. Contact the staff for more information

The library charges borrowers aged 16 and older fees for interlibrary loans and late loans.

We have 12 computer seats. Wi-Fi is available throughout the library. We offer printing, photocopying and document-scanning services.

Study spaces

There are study spaces in the public library area as well as 10 seats in a quiet study room. It is also possible to reserve a group study room for 2–5 people.

Our community speaks many languages

The library has books for both children and adults in many different languages. We have books in about 45 languages in total. For example we have books in Amharic, Arabic, Dari, English, Finnish, French, German, Mongolian, Pashto, Persian, Polish, Russian, Sorani, Spanish, Thai, Tigrinya and Turkish. We also have activities for people who speak other languages then swedish. For example Finnish Sundays, reading circles for Swedish language learners. If we don’t have books in your language, we can borrow books from the International Library or purchase them.

Talking books

Talking books are recorded for people with reading impairments such as a vision impairment or dyslexia. The library has over 1,000 talking books that you can borrow on disc. A larger selection of over 100,000 titles is available at Legimus, the download service of the Swedish Agency for Accessible Media (MTM). They have more than 16,000 titles in English. Talking books can be ordered for free. Contact us if you like to order talking books on disc. If you have a reading impairment you can get a Legimus user account from the library. With a user account you can listen to talking books with the Legimus app. Contact us to get a Legimus user account at

The bookmobile travels to all of the preschools in the municipality. It has books for children from the very youngest ones, up to age six. It also has audiobooks, CDs with children’s music and language packs, a set of teaching materials that supports children’s language development. E-mail:
